I’m Angie and in June

I’m Angie and in June of 2022, I was diagnosed with stage 3 inflammatory breast cancer. Unfortunately after several months of doctor’s appointments, test and a hospital visit, I was informed by my insurance that they don’t cover anything having to do with CANCER!! My doctor forced me to leave my job as a teacher due to my low immune system (worried that the children would get me very sick). So now I need help paying for medical bills, I need lots of love and PRAYERS!!

In May of 2016, my wife and I stood in the doctor’s office together as I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer. Tests showed the cancer had spread from my prostate into my bladder and into my lymph nodes. I looked at Vickie and told her we would never ask “why me?’ and we would lay this at the feet of God. Our only prayer was that God would use us in any way that He decided. We immediately found peace with the diagnosis and our decision to give it to God. And so, the journey began…

I spoke with my Doctor at the City of Hope and he told me that anything was possible with modern medicine and the help of God! We instantly knew we were on the right track! I underwent 6 months of chemotherapy and I will continue to receive monthly Lupron injections to “manage” the cancer. We have had numerous setbacks, but each setback was accompanied by a lesson and a gift from God. He has allowed us to touch so many people’s lives, who have in turn touched our lives! We understand that this cancer has changed our life forever, but we are determined to stand and proclaim God’s name in the face of the storm!

I realize that our journey is not about ME and it is not about cancer! Our journey is about the grace of God and the peace that can be found when we fully give our lives to Him and understand that this is all a part of His master plan! Although the cancer has broken me down “physically”, God has built me stronger both “mentally” and “spiritually!” He has allowed me to see and hear things in life that I had never noticed before! My marriage has become stronger, my family has become stronger, my friends have become stronger and my faith in God has reached a height that I never knew existed! As Philippians 4:13 states, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me!”

Be blessed,

Thank you CWSO for the cards and gifts of encouragement you’ve provided over the past years for my husband Cody Ballard. It’s so nice to having such caring and thoughtful people praying for you. Sadly, Cody passed away on August 17 after an almost ten years battle. Know that your encouragement and support helped us make it through good and not so good days. I try not to say BAD days because every day is a blessing. Thank you so much for the for your kindness. God Bless You.

My journey began earlier this year (2015) with abnormal pap results and occasional post-menopausal spotting. A later biopsy confirmed the presence of uterine cancer cells. My surgery went from a “simple” hysterectomy to a more complex procedure. Dr. Mcbroom, an excellent gynecologist/oncologist, discovered that the cancer had spread into my intestines and attached itself to my navel. Long story short, he removed about 90% of the cancer, including my navel and part of my intestines. I’ve dealt with some anxiety about the future, but the nurses assure me that is a normal part of the healing process. I’m so thankful to be on this side of this difficult journey (surgery, recovery), and I look forward to regaining my strength and ability to continue the “good fight” and finish my race with the Lord’s approving nod.

I am thankful that each chemo session seems to be working well. I had a major drop in my cancer numbers (CA125), from 703 in July, to 68 in August, to 17 in September! The doctors and nurses are pleased with my progress and renewed strength and I let them know it’s because of the prayers of the faithful lifting not only my situation up, but also the abilities of the medical team.

I was told two years almost now that i had colon cancer, when i had my surgery to remove the tumors, they found out it had spread to my lump nodes into my liver and my stomach and my neck. I was then told that my cancer was in stage 4 and there was no cure for it. I started to cry and looked the doctor in the eyes and told him he does not know what God has in store for me. I’ve been doing chemo every since i was told that.I am doing better than they thought i would. It has not been easy. At times i feel so alone. But in my heart i know i’m not. God has brought me a long way. But there are times i feel my faith is being tested.

Hello, in March 2012 I was DXed with Gliobastoma Mutiforme (GBM), a very lethal form of brain cancer. Over the last nine months I’ve had proton treatments and chemo (LOTS of chemo), and my last MRI (September), to put it in docspeak, “there is no evidence of recurrent or residual neoplasm”. A far cry from what had been predicted for me. So far I’m alive and recovering and God willing I’ll continue to remain tha way. My best and hopes for you all.

I am so grateful to all of you Cancer Warriors who have showered me with gifts, cards, and untold thoughts and prayers. I feel this outpouring in my life since being diagnosed with multiple myeloma less than a year ago. It has been a winding road, for sure, but I am now in Atlanta, an outpatient at The Blood and Marrow Transplant Group with Northside Hospital. The current chemo may well lead to a stem cell transplant soon, and this will be in God’s hands, through Whom we all will hear a ‘Victorious, Yes.’

Dear Friends, I recieved my warrior kit a couple of weeks ago, what a Blessing to know that I already had the backing of many friends and family, when I had just got the diagnosis of cancer. A lot has happened in the last weeks … the diagnosis of bladder cancer, trying to get prepared for surgery to remove the tumor, I learned I have cardiovascular spasms and needed a stent placement. These spasms are caused from long term stress. Sometimes when we are a caregiver, we forget to take care of ourselves. This seems to be my situation, comment below mine is that of my husband, John Middlebrooks who is fighting leukemia. Together we are a strong team and GOD has BLESSED us, greatly! We will continue to fight our battles, for the GLORY of GOD, with the prayers, encouragement and support from wonderful, caring and loving people like you all here at CWSO!
Thank You All … God Bless Each One!

Today I recieved the warrior package and I was touched by the evidence of Love and encouragement, contained within! The prayers, support and realization that so many people truly care, made my day extra special.
This is my second battle with cancer, 2006 colon cancer, 2011 (AML) leukemia!
It has been a tough battle for me and my family, some days I’m not so sure I can continue. But GOD, has been with me every step of the way and I am reminded of HIS promise, that HE will never leave me. I put all my trust totally and completely in HIM. I give GOD all the praise and glory, for each day HE gives me.
Special Thanks To CWSO and to you, Toni Grogan … you are such a Blessing!
May GOD Bless each one of you and this ministry.

I just wanted to let you know that I received my Cancer Warrior package yesterday and it just made my day, as I was feeling a little down. I want to say “Thank You” so much for your prayers and the Battle Gear. It will inspire me and hopfully others who see the T-shirt and warrior band on my arm and open up channels to witness for our Lord, because we cannot get through this without His love, help and grace. As of January they tell me my ovaiain cancer , stage 3 is in remission and I have ten more chemo treatments to go. I know ovarian cancer is hard to treat, but I am trusting in the Lord whatever the outcome for He is good all day everyday no matter what.
Please keep up the good work and may God continue to bless all of you and all that you do.

“It’s A Small World”…A very special thanks to CWSO for their thoughts and prayers for Jana Rogers O’Neil as she fights the battle against breast cancer. Your Battle gear has meant so much to her during her two surgeries, chemo, and the birth of our miracle baby Patrick. During one of my trips to Chicago, I asked Jana about the Cancer Warriors, she was surprised that I was unaware of this wonderful organization that was founded literally in my backyard…750 miles away.

My life has been enriched by the love and prayers from the founder Toni Grogan and the CWSO. We are so blessed to have this organization in our community.
Thanks again for your love, support and prayers while Jana continues her fight.
We are so thankful for God’s blessings and our miracle healthy baby Patrick.

My mother, Martha B. Sims, was called home Wednesday, September 16th, just before 2 in the morning. She left this earth on angel’s wings and was met by her Lord and Savior. Her faith became truth during the darkest hours of my life. As I grieve the loss of my mother, I rejoice in the completion of her journey. The Cancer Warriors offered her support, love, prayers & many uplifing notes of encouragement during the last months of her struggle. She was truly touched by all of this. As my family’s way of saying thank you, we asked that memorials be made to this organization. You never know where this will lead but our prayers are that the donations will be many in memory of our loved one and that a precedent will be set for others to follow. May God bless your work!
